Introducing the POP Engine - we took our popular Kontax KS90 Stirling engine and revisited every component to streamline the design to remove complexity and cost. The POP engine has fewer components for a more accessible price. Designed with simplicity in mind, many of the the parts of the POP engine snap or pop together effortlessly, making it easy to assemble without the need for specialised tools or technical expertise.
This has also given the POP engine a clean, contemporary, minimalistic design. The acrylic flywheel is a nod to some of the early low temperature differential Stirling engines by Professor Senft.
The POP engines are supplied as kits and the fact that many of the parts pop/snap together simplifies the entire assembly process. Despite this, it maintains the high-quality of a classic Kontax Stirling engine, demonstrating the principles of thermodynamics in a fun and engaging way.
With regard to performance it does take a little more heat to get the engine running. It needs 15C to 20C difference to operate. So unlike our other engines it WON'T run from the heat of your hand. They still can run from a cup of tea/coffee, ice cubes, and warm heat sources such as set top boxes and routers.
To make it even more appealing, the POP engine comes in a variety of vibrant colours, allowing you to choose a model that suits your style or display preference. Whether you’re an enthusiast, an educator, or a hobbyist, the Pop Engine is a perfect blend of efficiency, affordability, and interactive fun.
