Pod Spinner Desktop Finger Treadle

Featuring precision machined aluminium and brass components and with precision ball-race bearings throughout, this manually operated desktop finger treadle is addictive and mesmerising to operate.

How it works

A finger‑controlled lever engages a connecting rod and crank assembly, propelling six seedpod‑shaped flyweights that vanish into a blur as speed builds. When idle, the graceful form becomes a striking centerpiece for discussion.

Operation

The Pod Spinner can be operated in either direction, though maintaining a consistent rhythm at high speed proves challenging. Rhythmic patterns differ between left and right hands, and even individual fingers on the same hand produce distinct variations. With practice, speeds up to 350rpm are possible.

Self-assembly kit
